Software providers Stardraw.com are gearing up for a busy ISE show on the stand of their European distributor, Comm-Tec. Having recently announced the retirement of the 2007 versions of their design/documentation products (although they will be supported until current subscriptions expire), Stardraw has announced a slew of enhancements and upgrades to their most sophisticated application yet, the award-winning Stardraw Design 7.

One of the most significant announcements is the introduction of the new Plan View drawing module which will be shown for the first time at ISE. Plan View is specifically designed for creating floor plans, reflected ceiling plans and general purpose CAD layouts. It exploits Stardraw Design 7's superb DWG compatibility to facilitate collaboration with architects, consultants and other AutoCAD users who prefer or require drawing submissions in DWG format. Since it was first shown at InfoComm 2012, it has been further enhanced with the addition of the new Cable Arc tool which makes it easy to document cable runs between installed products: a single click-drag creates each arc and the use of Snap-to-Path modifier ensures accurate connections. The Plan View module can be chosen for inclusion in any new purchase of Stardraw Design 7, and existing users can purchase it separately to add to their existing Stardraw Design 7 configuration.

Other new features include the Paste to Current Layer function which makes it possible to "combine" views, e.g. Front, Side and Rear views of a rack in a single drawing or combine different drawing types, such as rack layout and block schematics, and scale them all to size for total flexibility when it comes to project presentation and documentation.

Also new is the user-definable "minimum printed line width" setting to ensure that lines, particularly in light colours, do not appear too faint when output to high-resolution printers. This is particularly important for the presentation of complex, high-resolution projects in a printed format. It makes no difference at all to what is seen on the computer screen.
